I imagine you must get a lot more PM's than me.

In a "lazy format" (eg: CSV) that's quite an easy suggestion technically speaking - hours work at most.

One thing that confuses me - when I click the new messages since last visit button, I always get posts from the French forum and my French is really bad. Filtering them out would be quite useful, along with all the other languages I don't speak.

Selfish? I guess. Not too hard though I don't think.

This suggestion has come up several times in this thread (from me as well).
"The present moment is the only door into existence. The past and future are not doors, they are walls."

"We place no reliance on virgin or pigeon. Our method is science, our aim is religion."

"Enlightenment doesn't care how you get there."

Apologies, I must have missed it.

I'll add my support to the existing proposal, since I can't vote.

I don’t think compartmentalising topic sections is a good idea.
    It sounds pretty counter-intuitive.
We end up talking about the same thing anyway, so splitting up the forum further would just make it confusing and messy.
By chopping things up into some kind of epistemological hierarchy, we are making unneeded and potentially damaging concessions to otherwise dynamic yet confluent discussion.

Isn’t a science section just a speculation section in disguise?
Not even science has the right to be accepted as unequivocal ‘fact’.
For what is fact if not a belief?

This comes back to my point about segregation.
    It’s really only contradicting ourselves.
So, as has already been said, we should allow all avenues of discussion, without making exemption for one discipline or another. It is as potentially damaging to constrict accepted discussions as it is to portray anything, being it dangerous or just authoritative dictum, to be absolute unquestionable truth.

    Anyway, enough ranting.

    Here’s a suggestion;
How about an image display area on the front page for psychonautic artwork, which shows random or sequential pictures from the personal artwork thread.
It should be a reasonably large space to accommodate a good resolution though.

The shout box idea would be kind of fun, but at the same time rather pointless.
Perhaps individualised user pages which have shout boxes and/or blogs in them?
That would make the site more user friendly and customizable perhaps. But it is rather superfluous to the programming issues you guys seem to be more occupied with.

I would suggest overall to keep it as simple as possible.
I am that by which I know I am.

Agree with keeping it simple, but science disserves a place next to "art and philosophy" (maybe integrate science in this topic...)

Buff, do you know a better way than the scientific method to search for truth??
    Everybody does it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_method

I know I shouldn't but I feel insulted. Yes science shouldn't be looked up against as the great great universal truth but if not science, what can??
Science might be a belief, but it's a belief you can verify with your own insight.

Your insight was right, but don't lose your grip on reality man... science works the last time I checked???
You'd better delete the "politics and media" and the "art and philosophy" sections too.

    And maybe I am a fundamentalist... I don't care...

Hahaha, sorry again mate if I ruffled your feathers.

Science rather than ‘searching’ for truth, defines what truth is.
Any search in this way is folly, because it externalises potential.

The scientific method is yet another tool.
I find it is sciences progenitor, the mind, which transcends its offspring.
So science cannot show us anymore than we can show ourselves.

Grip on reality? Reality is a grip. Yet it holds nothing.

What can be looked at as universal truth, if there is such a thing, is mind.

Perhaps you are a fundamentalist, but I wouldn’t put all my eggs in one basket.
I would rather combine philosophy and science in the same topic group as you said, that way threads for both fields could be integrated for a much better image than if they were kept separate.

This is hardly the place to argue such things; although I don’t even wish to argue.
I just don’t like seeing tools be placed above the hands that use them.
I am that by which I know I am.

I may just be nitpicky, but I was wondering what the FUCK you mean by epistemological hierarchy, and especially in the context in which you used this term.

I was wondering what the FUCK you mean by epistemological hierarchy
Dividing topic sections by the degrees and methods by which knowledge is attained and discussed in a hierarchical fashion; Such as one section being held as truer than another for the exploration or justification of subject matter than another.

That’s what the fuck I meant.
Sorry to be confusing yet again.

Rather, science is an invention of measuring.

Tis a swamp, but a fun swamp to play in!
Just watch out for the creatures that lurk below.

Just trying to put the tools in the right boxes
    And just a thought:
Isn’t a box also a tool for holding tools? And tools themselves boxes?
Ahh, the infinity of the mundane.

Too late but I wanted to ask why you didn't make the language separate on the homepage (at the Forum Active Topics)? I mean like different tags for the languages. I remember it was proposed in the threat...
"But in its true meaning, the sense of responsibility is something completely voluntary; it is my answer to the pronounced or unpronounced wanting of another human being. Feeling 'responsible' for someone else, means being able and ready to 'answer'" - Erich Fromm

sometimes I get mails of new posts and when I open them it says the page doesn't exist. This happens a lot in the "post your artwork" thread.

this topic should be called "your complaints about psychonaut.com".....

Unfortunately we don't have anyone who can fix these problems. We can easily add forum sections or add (certain) new features to the front page, but for the rest the software of this website is kind of difficult to use.

Tomorrow is my last day at my current job (web editor for an online smartshop). After that I'll be in my own little healthshop again, having lots of time to go through this thread and see what I can fix and improve.

I am not going to so much, but i think i can fix these problems. It are just bugs that are still not been fixed, because this is already a old forum. If it has a good update, i am sure this problems will be gone. And the forum will also technically be much better.

Pm me if you need some help.

Sometimes (happenned to me twice), a topic creates a new page after I posted, but when I try to go to the last page, it says it doesn't exist, and my post is in the page before.

    Yeah, that's fucked up.

We should be able to sort topics by latest addition.
