Thread: Amanita Muscaria

Hey all, i just found out that the amanita muscaria grows everwhere where im from (sweden) and eversince i was a kid, my parents and all adults told me it was deadly to eat it..wonder why they tell me that?

It says it grows in most European countries so search for it before you buy it

Well... in most countries (in Holland at least) they're a protected species and the dosage of muscimol and ibotenic acid are often too low to be of any good use.
I guess in Sweden that's a different story! Be sure to dry them well before you eat them shrooms.

i found about amanita in some website which said about that "childrens warning" and for the little older too, that because a:s cousins can and will kill, those death caps...
not that they look at all like a. but the over super caution governments have nothing better to do--

Not all aminatas are edible some ARE poisenous even deadly so be sure to check the strain before eating. You can try making some photographs and place them on the shroomery for an i.d.
