One of my mates has recently been found in posession of an Oz of weed as 8ths. He was arrested and in the interview said that he had given some to a mate and hadn't recieved and money. And is adamant that is was all for personal use. Anyone got any idea how serious it is for him? He hasn't been charged yet

Depends where he lives. An 8th won't be much time spent in the US.

hes admitted intent to supply by saying he gave some to a mate, whether it was for money or not.

passing a joint or admitting to passing one, is supply also, always smoke ya own or at least say its yours if caught with one.

i know when the alarm bells ring because youve just been pulled with illegal substances the tendancy is to say, "its not mine!!", thats also good enough to say intent to supply because when you turn the sentence around, your gonna give it to someone..
the 8 8ths themselves he might have got away with saying it was 8 fiver deals and for personal use... always downplay the value.

if the cops gonna search you let them take it out your pocket, dont pass them it, its a dirty trick and you wont be laughing when u get charged with supplying a police officer with drugs!

he should have said, it was all his, there was 40 quids worth, its just shitty weed, he bought it like that, and walked away with a caution.

Yeah. Honestly, many cops don't care if you have pot on you. They just want to make sure you're not causing trouble.
I'm not sure about the laws in the UK, but here you can deny a search. You tell the officer over and over, "I don't consent to any searches" and you're within your rights.

Loopholes = amazing.

we did away with any rights of privacy when the anti terrorism laws was enacted in the uk, until then you could refuse a search asking "what act of parliament gives you the right to search me at this hour (providing it daylight) without due cause?"
a smartass cop just would just make sumat up like a burglary round the corner, or car theft etc.

you can of course be a pain in the arse by wishing to be taken to the station and been searched in front of a solicitor of your choice, give them some extra paperwork to fill in, and waste some time- its quite funny when they find fukall on you!!

if your prone to been searched because your ethnically challenged always go to the police station if they stop n search you to often and find nothing and you have the search paperwork you may have a valid claim for compensation for discrimination/ harassment!
