Where does the money go, if I may ask ?

Providing an open platform for discussions it by itself already enough 'for the psychonaut cause'... but...

Maybe it can also enable to pay people to make elaborate costumes when another paddo-demonstration is organized, or buy advertisement space in newspapers etc.

Money does not make the world go round, but it sure lubricates the mechanics.
Every one should try it at least once. or twice.

Well at first we mainly want to use it for the Psychonaut community itself. We really need to hire some programmers who can fix the most important bugs and security issues. And then they might help implement new features and ideas into the site.

And of course we need to pay the montly hosting fee, and salary of people who work for the site.

If there still something left after this we still have many other ideas for new psychonautic sites..

If I may be so bold as to ask, EXACTLY how does the site generate income...

Basically it doesn't.

There are easier ways to make money on the net, so with this community site we clearly never aimed for a real 'income'. But somehow it would be more than nice if it would not just soak up time and money. Then there could (finally!) be some more time and energy put into improvement & design.

The owners of the site are able to maintain it because they allow some of their employees like myself to spend some time working on Psychonaut 'on the side'. Everyone loves it as a project however without money, but there's no reason to give it up. Although it's by far not full grown as an international community where people like-minded people meet, it has gained it's own respected place on the Web, welcoming new members every day.

Isn't it an option to try to find programmers in the community who are willing to work together to fix some stuff that really needs fixing?

I would personally be interested in helping with that, it's just that I don't have the means to do it full time but with a small dedicated and motivated team, a lot of work can be done in a reasonable time imo.

If someone clicks on a banner and then orders something from that website (for example a book from Amazon) a certain percentage will automatically go to this forum. Or a company (online smartshops mostly) may pay a monthly or yearly fee for having a banner on psychonaut.com.

So, it is strictly by advertising, or a variation on the 'adsense' theme....

Thanks for the answers

If in doubt double the dose
